X-Men: Days of Future Past Wins Weekend Box Office

X-Men: Days of Future Past won the weekend box office with a $90 million opening. It was a huge opening but less than X-Men: The Last Stand, which opened with $102.8 million in May 2006. You can see a chart comparing how well the X-Men films have performed here on boxofficemojo.com.

Days of Future Past has great reviews from critics with a 91% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Deadline reports that the new X-Men film is also a hit overseas and is the top film in 11 markets.

X-Men: Days of Future Past was followed by Godzilla, which added $31.4 million during its second weekend in theaters to bring its total gross to nearly $150 million after just two weekends. Godzilla was followed by Blended, a comedy starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. Blended opened with $14.2 million to finish in third.

Neighbors finished fourth and made another $13.9 million to easily roll past the $100 million mark. The R-rated comedy has now made $113 million in the U.S. Neighbors was followed by The Amazing Spider-Man 2, which added $7.8 million to bring its domestic gross to $184.9 million. Spider-Man 2 was followed by Million Dollar Arm, The Other Woman, Rio 2, Chef and Heaven is for Real. You can view the complete box office chart here.
