Jack Black stars as Steve in the teaser trailer for A Minecraft Movie. A blockish pink sheep stands out in this first look at the film.

A Minecraft Movie also stars Jason Momoa and Emma Myers. The main characters are pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld and have to embark on a magical quest with Steve.

The movie is directed by Jared Hess. The film from Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures is the first major live-action adaption of the incredibly popular game.

There's been a backlash at the trailer but we'll wait for the first full-length trailer before we complain too much. Some of the Minecraft world envisioned by Warner Bros. look pretty interesting. Films where people get sucked from Earth into strange worlds has worked before.
