Writers' Strike TV Programming Changes List

With the Writers Guild poised to go on strike on November 1st if they don't reach a deal with the producers, things are looking a bit grim for television viewers. If the writers go on strike, there won't be anyone to work on new episodes of The Bionic Woman, My Name is Earl or any comedy, thriller or drama. That means lots of reality TV and news programs in our future.
Update: Below is our list of show changes we compiled to track TV programming changes during the strike. As you can see many shows were canceled or lost episodes. You can also find a similar historical list on Wikipedia. Writer's Strike TV Changes- 24 Fox - Season 7 of 24 has been postponed until 2009. However, there will be a 2-hour movie prequel shown this Fall.
- 30 Rock NBC - 5 new shows are expected to begin airing on April 10th. Source: TV Guide
- The 4400 USA - The 4400 has been canceled.
- Aliens in America CW - 17 of 22 shows were completed according to the L.A. Times. Still has seven left according to TVGuide.com.
- American Dad Fox - American Dad has completed 22 episodes.
- Army Wives Lifetime - The second season of Army Wives begins in June.
- Back to You Fox - TV Guide says four additional episodes will air beginning April 24th. CW has renewed the show for a fourth season.
- Battlestar Galactica SciFI - Battlestar Gallactica returns April 4th with the start of Season 4.
- The Big Bang Theory CBS - Big Bang Theory returned starting March 17, 2008 with nine new episodes. Source: Wikipedia
- Big Shots ABC - This show was canceled.
- Bionic Woman NBC - Bionic Woman was cancled.
- Blood Ties Lifetime - The final two episodes of Blood Ties will be available online only.
- Bones Fox - TV Guides says there are about six episodes of Bones that will begin airing on April 14th.
- Boston Legal ABC - Boston Legal will air six new episodes starting on April 8th.
- Brothers and Sisters ABC - 4 episodes will air beginning on April 20th according to TVGuide.com.
- Burn Notice USA - Scheduled to start production on second season in April.
- Cane CBS - The future of Cane is uncertain.
- Carpoolers ABC - From Wikipedia: "The season finale aired on March 4, 2008 and it is unlikely that the show will return for a second season."
- Cashmere Mafia ABC - Cashmere Media was canceled.
- Cavemen ABC - Cavemen was canceled.
- Chuck NBC - There will be new episodes of Chuck this Fall. The show was renewed.
- The Colbert Report Comedy Central - The Colbert Report is back to its regular schedule.
- Cold Case CBS - 5 new episodes will begin airing on March 30th. Source: TV Guide
- Criminal Minds CBS - CBS has announced that the show will return April 2nd with 7 new episodes. Source: Wikipedia
- CSI CBS - 6 new episodes will begin airing on April 3 reports TV Guide.
- CSI: Miami CBS - 8 new episodes will begin airing on March 24th reports TV Guide.
- CSI: NY CBS - 7 new episodes will begin airing on April 2nd reports TV Guide.
- The Daily Show with Jon Stewart Comedy Central - The Daily Show is back to its normal schedule.
- Damages FX - This series was renewed for two seasons.
- The Dead Zone USA - The Dead Zone has been canceled.
- Desperate Housewives ABC - Six new episodes of Desperate Housewives will be shown starting on April 13th. Source: TV Guide
- Dexter SHO - has been running an edited version of Dexter because of the strike. The third season on HBO is expected to air on September 30th.
- Dirty Sexy Money ABC - TV Guide says no new episodes will run until this Fall.
- Doctor Who SciFi - Doctor Who will not be affected by the strike.
- Eli Stone ABC - 13 episodes of Eli Stone were completed. Show was not affected by the strike.
- ER NBHC - 6 new episodes wii begin airing on April 10th says TV Guide.
- Eureka SciFi - Eureka was renewed for 21-episodes which will be split into two season of eight and thirteen. Episodes will begin Summer 2008.
- Everybody Hates Chris CW - Everybody Hates Chris was renewed and they still have two pre-strike shows to air.
- Family Guy Fox - Episodes to air regularly from February 17, 2008, onward. Source: Wikipedia
- Friday Night Lights NBC - No shows left. Future of the show is unclear. Fans trying to renew show.
- Ghost Whisperer CBS - 6 new episodes of Ghost Whisperer will begin airing on April 4th. Source: TV Guide. The show was renewed.
- Girlfriends CW - No shows left but TV Guide says a special one-hour series finale being discussed.
- Gossip Girl CW - 5 new episodes to begin airing on April 21st according to TVGuide.com. Show renewed for season two with Michelle Trachtenberg onboard.
- Grey's Anatomy ABC - Grey's Anatomy has five new episodes to air beginning April 24. Source: TV Guide
- Heroes NBC - There will be new episodes of Heroes this Fall.
- House, M.D. Fox - House will have four new episodes that will start on April 28th. Source: TV Guide
- How I Met Your Mother CBS - Nine new episodes will began airing on March 17th including one starring Britney.
- Jericho CBS - The March 25th episode of Jericho will be the show's finale. It was canceled.
- Jimmy Kimmel Live ABC - Jimmy Kimmel Live is back to its regular schedule.
- Journeyman NBC - Journeyman has been cancelled.
- K-ville Fox - No episodes of K-Ville scheduled. Future of show unclear.
- Las Vegas NBC - There will be no more new shows. Las Vegas has been canceled.
- Last Call with Carson Daily NBC - Carson Daily crossed the picket lines to make new shows.
- Late Night with Conan O'Brien NBC - Late Night is back to its regular schedule.
- Late Show with David Letterman CBS - Late Night with David Letterman is back to its regular schedule.
- Law & Order NBC - 5 new episodes will begin on April 24th. Source: TV Guide
- Law & Order: CI NBC - Expected to shoot more episodes that will air this spring reports TV Guide.
- Law & Order: SVU NBC - 5 new episodes will begin airing on April 15th. Source: TV Guide
- Life NBC - There are no episodes of Life left to air. Renewed with new episodes this Fall.
- Life is Wild CW - This show has been canceled.
- Lipstick Jungle NBC -NBC ordered six additional scripts of Lipstick Jungle. Source: Wikipedia.
- Lost ABC - TV Guide says thee are five additional Lost episodes expected to begin April 24th.
- Medium NBC - Five additional episodes for this season expected to begin airing on March 24, 2008.
- Men in Trees ABC - TV Guide: "Eight pre-strike episodes remain. No additional episodes expected this season."
- Monk USA - Monk will be returning for its 7th season this Fall.
- Moonlight CBS - Four new episodes left to air beginning on April 25th. Still waiting to see if it will be renewed.

- The New Adventures of Old Christine CBS -2 new episodes will be shot according to TV Guide
- New Amsterdam Fox - New Amsterdam has a total of eight episodes to air. Source: Wikipedia
- Nip/Tuck FX - 14 episodes have been completed. source. 5 episodes remaining - 4 will run in January and February.
- Numb3rs CBS - CBS announced the show's return April 4, 2008 with 6 episodes. Source: Wikipedia
- The Office NBC - The Office returns April 10th with six new episodes. The show has been renewed for a fifth season. Source: Wikipedia
- One Tree Hill CW - 12 episodes completed - none of which have aired. source
- Prison Break Fox - Season 3 just finished airing. Prison Break has been renewed by Fox for a fourth season.
- Private Practice ABC - Private Practice will return this Fall - pickup announced in February.

- Quarterlife MySpace - NBC purchased this Internet show with plans to broadcast it on television. Then canceled it after just one airing.
- Real Time with Bill Maher HBO - Real Time with Bill Maher is running its regular Friday night schedule.
- Reaper CW - TV Guide: "Expected to shoot 5 additional episodes to begin airing on April 22."
- Rules of Engagement CBS - CBS announced that Rules of Engagement will return April 14, 2008 with 6 episodes. Source: Wikipedia
- Samantha Who? ABC - Samantha Who? has six new episodes that will be aired starting April 7th. Source: Wikipedia.
- Saving Grace TNT - TNT renewed Saving Grace for a second season of 15 more episodes. New episodes will start July, 2008. Source: Wikipedia
- Scrubs NBC - Scrubs will have several new episodes that will begin airing on April 10th. Source: Hollywood Reporter
- Shark CBS - Four more episodes of Shark will be made but the air dates are still unknown says TV Guide.
- Smallville CW - TV Guide says "Expected to shoot 6 additional episodes to begin airing on April 17." Smallville was renewed by CW.
- South Park Comedy Central - Season 12 of South Park is currently airing. The show was not affected by the writer's strike.
- StarGate: Atlantis Sci-Fi Channel - Season Five of Stargate: Atlantis is expected to begin airing in late July or early August, 2008. Source: Wikipedia
- Supernatural CW - 10-12 episodes have been completed.
- The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson CBS - Craig Ferguson is back to its regular schedule.
- 'Til Death Fox - Til' Death will return with the first of five new episodes on Wednesday, April 16th.
- The Tonight Show with Jay Leno NBC -The Tonight Show is running its regular schedule.
- Two and a Half Men CBS -The show returned March 17, 2008 with 9 episodes to air. It has also been renewed. Source: Wikipedia
- Ugly Betty ABC - Ugly Betty has 5 new episodes that will air beginning April 24. Source: TV Guide
- The View ABC - The View is on a normal schedule.
- The Wire HBO - The Wire season five and the series concluded on March 9, 2008.
- Without a Trace CBS - Schedule to return April 3rd with six new episodes says TV Guide.
