Reese Witherspoon hikes the Pacific Crest Trail in the trailer for Wild which is based on the bestselling memoir by Cheryl Strayed which was an Oprah's Book Club choice. After her mother died, the author fell into a deep depression and dulled her pain with drugs and promiscuity. When her marriage fell apart, she decided to embark on a life-changing 1,100 mile hike for which she was not prepared at all.
The hike is incredibly difficult and dangerous. She didn't buy the correct footwear and had no experience. But she made it through and found a way to live with her grief and to start living again. The film was directed by Jean-Marc Vallee (Dallas Buyers Club). Nick Hornby wrote the screenplay. Gaby Hoffmann, Laura Dern, Michiel Huisman and Charles Baker, co-star.
Reese ditched makeup and didn't brush her hair much according to the director. Reese is amazing in the trailer. It looks like the film adaptation of the popular book will be a success. The film hits theaters December 5, 2014. Take a look:
