Here is the trailer for Tim Burton's next film, Big Eyes. Amy Adams has major buzz for her role as painter Margaret Keane, whose paintings of children with big eyes became huge sellers in teh 1950s and 1960s.

A divorcee with a child, Margaret moves to San Francicso to start a new life. She meets Walter Keane (Christoph Waltz) and eventually marries him. When her artwork got noticed and began to sell, Walter took credit for the work because he said no one was interested in a lady painter. The paintings became a huge commercial success and paved the way for mass sales of art to the public with posters, postcards a and the like.

Eventually Margaret could not put up with her husband taking credit for her work. She filed for divorce and wanted the judge to declare she owned the rights to her artwork. She actually challenged Walter to a paint off in the courtroom to prove she was the artist. While the jury looked on Margaret cranked out a painting of a sad boy with big eyes in 53 minutes. She testified that she went along with the deception because Walter threatened to kill her and her son.

The film was directed and produced by Tim Burton and it looks fantastic. Amy Adams is a marvel in the role and Waltz steps right into the character of the smooth talking husband who stole her work. Krysten Ritter and Jason Schwartzman co-star in the film which is set for release on December 25, 2014.

Burton is a huge fan of Margaret Keane, who is 87 and still paints to this day. Burton owns a number of her paintings. Keane painted portraits of many Hollywood celebrities, such as Natalie Wood, Robert Wagner, Joan Crawford and Kim Novak. Since the movie has been announced her paintings have begun to rise in price once again. Many art experts consider them the height of kitsch, but others take them quite seriously.
