Djimon Hounsou and Michael Pena Get Their Exorcist On in The Vatican Tapes Trailer

Posted on March 7, 2015

Deep in the secret Vatican archives Cardinal Bruun (Peter Andreeson) and Vicar Imani (Djimon Hounsou) are reviewing tapes of old exorcisms to try to determine Satan's plan to destroy mankind. They are called in to a case of possible possession brought to their attention by the local priest Father Lozano (Michael Pena).

The girl is 27 years old and is named Angela Holmes (Olivia Dudley). There is nothing special about Angela, other than the fact that anyone who is around her ends up either dead or severely injured. They discover that she is possessed by an ancient Satanic evil who is looking for a way into the world. Yes, it's the Antichrist.

Some of the clues that this is no ordinary possession case are the fact that the girl coughs out some nasty demon eggs, has stigmata on her feet, levitates and set things on fire. She tells the three holy men, "Tell them I'm here!" Okay, message received -- and it's nothing but bad news for our exorcists.

Mark Neveldine (Crank, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance) directed the film from a screenplay written by Christopher Borrelli. Dougray Scott and Kathleen Robertson co star in the film which hits theaters May 22, 2015. The trailer for The Vatican Tapes looks intriguing and who doesn't love a good exorcism tale? We feel sure the pacing will be quick with Mark Neveldine at the helm and Djimon Hounsou is not fooling around. When he tells Michael Pena's character that he's a warrior for God now, we believe it.
