The Rite Wins Weekend Box Office

The Rite, a supernatural horror movie starring Anthony Hopkins, claimed the #1 spot at the box office this weekend. The Rite made $15 million in its debut. Hopkins plays a Jesuit who has performed many exorcisms. It is directed by Mikael Hafstrom with a screenplay by Michael Petroni.
The Rite was followed by the Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman comedy, No Strings Attached, which made $13.6 million. Jason Statham's The Mechanic opened in third and made $11.5 million. The Mechanic was followed by The Green Hornet, The King's Speech and True Grit.
