The Perfect Guy Tops The Visit to Win Weekend Box Office

The Perfect Guy won the box office this weekend. The stalker thriller starring Sanaa Lathan, Michael Ealy and Morris Chestnut just edged out M. Night Shyamalan's The Visit. The Perfect Guy opened with $26.7 million and The Visit made $25.7 million.
Both films had strong openings. The Perfect Guy has the better CinemaScore with an A- compared to a B- for The Visit. The Pefect Guy also had a stronger per theater average at an impressive $12,000 per theater. The Visit averaged $8,371 per theater.
The Visit was followed by War Room which made $7.4 to bring its total gross after three weekends to $39 million. War Room was followed by A Walk in the Woods, Mission: Impossible: Rogue Nation, Straight Outta Compton and No Escape.
Another film opening this weekend was 90 Minutes in Heaven starring Kate Bosworth and Hayden Christensen. The film is based on a book by Baptist minister Don Piper. The book provides Piper's account of seeing heaven after being revived from a car crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the car accident. Piper is played by Christensen in the film. The movie made $2.1 million in 878 theaters.
