The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug Wins Third Consecutive Weekend Box Office

The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug won the weekend box office for the third consecutive weekend. It made another $29.8 million to bring its total gross to $190 million. The Hobbit 2 managed to stay about a million ahead of Frozen, which made $28.8 million. Frozen is now very close to $250 million for its total domestic gross.

Anchorman 2 finished third and made $20 million. It was followed by American Hustle, which made $19.5 million. The Wold of Wall Street made $18 million over the weekend to finish fifth.

The rest of the holiday weekend top ten - which is crowded with good films - includes Saving Mr. Banks, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, 47 Ronin and Tyler Perry's A Madea Christmas. Justin Beiber's Believe filmed bombed and finished in 14th place for the weekend. You can see the complete box office report here.
