The Grey Wins Weekend Box Office
Posted on January 29, 2012
The Grey, starring Liam Neeson, was the number one film in theaters this weekend. In the film, Ottway (Liam Neeson) leads an unruly group of oil-rig roughnecks after their plane crashes into the remote Alaskan wilderness. A dangerous pack of rogue wolves is one of the threats the survivors face. The Grey made $20 million.
The Grey was followed by Underworld Awakening, which made $12.5 million. One For the Money opened in third and made $11.8 million. The film, based on the Janet Evanovich novels, stars Katherine Heigl as Stephanie Plum. Reuters says the film topped industry forecasts, so hopefully there will be a sequel.
Red Tails finished fourth and made $10.4 million. Man on a Ledge, starring Sam Worthington, opened in fifth place and made $8.3 million. You can see the complete box office report here.
