The Dark Knight Beats Out The Mummy

The Dark Knight surged over the weekend and took first place away from The Mummy. The Batman film took in another $42,664,219, bringing its total take to date to $393,751,065. Both films are worth seeing.
The Dark Knight is an absolute must see with Heath Ledger's performance as The Joker. In second place was The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, which made $40,457,770. In third place was the Will Ferrell comedy, Stepbrothers, which earned another $16,506,526, bringing its total take to date to $63,172,026.
In fourth place was Mamma Mia! which made another $12,615,515, which brings the musical's cumulative take to a very healthy $87,470,125. In fifth place was Journey to the Center of the Earth, which made another $6,662,406, bringing its total take to date to $72,927,314.
