Adam Sandler stars in the first trailer for The Cobbler. Sandler stars as Max Simpkin, a New York City cobbler that has repaired shoes in shop his family has owned for generations. One day he discovers a magical old sewing machine that allows him to become any person whose shoes he wears.
A cobbler gets shoes from all kinds of people who live all kinds of lives. From the handsome guy the handsome guy (Dan Stevens) with a gorgeous girlfriend, a guy who has some very scary business associates (Method Man), and even his own father (Dustin Hoffman). Walking a mile in someone else's shoes shows Max that other people's lives aren't always what they seem.
The film was written and directed by Thomas McCarthy (Million Dollar Arm, The Wire). The film also stars Steve Buscemi, Ellen Barkin, Melonie Diaz, Joey Slotnick, Greta Lee and Glenn Fleshler.
The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. It does not yet have a release date in the U.S. Voltage Pictures, which financed the film, say the movie is similar in theme to Big, which starred Tom Hanks, and 13 Going on 30, which starred Jennifer Garner. Take a look:
