The Butler Wins Weekend Box Office for Second Consecutive Weekend

Lee Daniels' The Butler won the box office for the second consecutive weekend. The Butler won the weak weekend with a $16.5 million take. The Butler has now made over $50 million. Its strong showing could help it come time for awards season. The Butler was followed by We're the Millers, which had a strong third weekend in theaters and made another $13 million.
The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, starring Lily Collins, really struggled. It made only $9.3 million for the weekend and average just under $3,000 per theater. The World's End was a little stronger. It opened in fourth, but average $5,667 per theater.
