The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Wins Weekend Box Office With $92 Million Opening

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is a huge hit. The film opened with $92 million to easily win the box office this weekend. This was just shy of the $95 million for Captain America: The Winter Soldier in early April.
Deadline reports that Spider-Man 2 has also already grossed $277 million overseas. Spider-Man 2 could potentially roll over Neighbors and Chef next weekend. It will face Godzilla on May 16.
Spider-Man 2 was followed by The Other Woman, which had a strong second weekend in theaters. The Other Woman made $14.2 million to bring its total gross to $47 million. Heaven is for Real finished third and added another $8.7 million. It has now made over $65 million on a small $12 million budget.
The Winter Soldier made $7.7 million during its fifth weekend and theaters and its total domestic gross is nearing the $250 million mark. The Winter Solider was followed by Rio 2, Brick Mansions, Divergent and The Quiet Ones. Three other films opening this weekend, Belle, Ida and Walk of Shame had very limited releases.
