Teen Beach Movie Garners Strong Ratings for Disney Channel
Posted on July 22, 2013
The Disney Channel has scored another teen musical hit. The L.A. Times reports that Disney's Teen Beach Movie garnered 8.4 million viewers during its premiere on Friday.
This is more than the High School Musical debut, which attracted 7.7 million viewers. However, it is far from High School Musical 2, which attracted a staggering 17.2 million viewers in 2007.
Modern kids get transported onto the set of a 1960s teen beach musical in the movie. Disney is probably planning a sequel, but it may not be as easy to make successful sequels out of this as it was for the High School Musical series.
Here is one of the musical numbers from the film, called "Surf's Up." Take a look:
- Jungle Cruise Tops Weekend Box Office
- A Quiet Place Part II Tops Memorial Day Box Office
- Godzilla vs. Kong Tops Box Office
- Disney to Offer Cruella and Black Widow on Disneyplus Same Day as Theater Release
- Raya and The Last Dragon Tops Box Office for Third Consecutive Weekend
