Straight Outta Compton Wins Box Office for Second Straight Weekend

Straight Outta Compton easily won the box office again this weekend. The film made $26.8 million during its second weekend in theaters to bring its total gross to $111 million. It was followed by Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation which fell just 32% from the prior weekend. Rogue Nation has now made $158 million after four weekends in theaters.
The new opening films this weekend did not appear until the third position. Sinister 2 opened in third and made $10.6 million for a low per theater average of $3,844 per theater. The original had a bigger opening of $18 million in 2012. The horror sequel has a B- CinemaScore. Hitman: Agent 47 opened in fourth and made $8.2 million. It had an even worse per theater average than Sinister 2 at $2,515 per theater.
Hitman was followed by The Man From U.N.C.L.E. which made $7.4 million during its second weekend in theaters. It was followed by American Ultra, which opened in sixth place and made $5.5 million. The comedy starring Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart had an awful per theater average of just $1,980 and a B- CinemaScore.
