Daniel Craig is James Bond in First SPECTRE Trailer
Posted on March 28, 2015
Sony has released the first teaser trailer for the 24th James Bond film SPECTRE. SPECTRE is the evil terrorist organization the Bond battled in the original books by Ian Fleming. In this teaser trailer Bond is still recovering from the events of the last film, Skyfall. Judy Dench's M is dead and there is a new M (played by Ralph Fiennes).
The trailer opens with Bond being given some personal effects recovered from his family's estate Skyfall, which have now been released by the forensic team. Two of the items are a photo with one person's head missing so you can't see who it is and an order for temporary guardianship. Miss Moneypenny tells Bond, "You've got a secret. Something you can't tell anyone, because you don't trust anyone."
The items in the locked box send Bond off on a mission left to him by the last M. Bond sets out to discover the truth about SPECTRE, which is an acronym for Special Executor for Counter- Intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion. We're sure that whatever truth he turns up will be most unpleasant. There is no action in this teaser trailer which actually makes it more powerful, especially given the news pieces detailing some of the amazing stunts the film will have.
The cast includes Oscar winner Christoph Waltz, who many fans assume will be playing the head of SPECTRE. In the books that was Ernst Stavro Blofeld. But it's unclear if Blofeld will appear in the film at all. Or perhaps he just goes by an alias to keep a low profile. Naomie Harris returns as Eve Moneypenny. Monica Belluci is Lucia Sciarra, Ralph Fiennes returns as M, Ben Whishaw returns as Q and Lea Seydoux is Madeleine Swann.
Sam Mendes, who directed Skyfall, is directing and he's said that the films are tied together. The film is all about Bond: who he is, secrets from his past and whether he wants to continue to live the life of an agent. The film was part of the Sony hacks: the entire script was leaked, along with studio notes that said the third act was terrible and needed a rewrite. The word is that the 3rd act has been rewritten and all is well. We certainly hope so. Here's the teaser trailer:
