SNL: Brie Larson Tries to Avoid the Mom Haircut

Posted on May 8, 2016

Brie Larson hosted Saturday Night Live and showed that she is very comfortable with sketch comedy. In this sketch called "Baby Shower" she plays an expectant mom who is told by the neighborhood moms that one day she too will get "The Cut." You know the one: it's waterfall in the front, knives in the back and all moms have it. There are no exceptions.

Brie's character says she will never cut her long hair, but the neighborhood moms look at each other knowingly. Soon she too will have hair, "that looks like you're going to a formal event, but on the way you were struck by lightning." Each woman related her tale of how they knew it was time for The Cut.

Aidy Bryant's character explained how The Cut happened to her all of the sudden. She explained, "I completely blacked out, and I came to in the parking lot of a Marshall's Home Goods," holding a "rustic sign that just said the single word, 'Home.'" Our favorite was Vanessa Bayer's mom who explained that one day she went into her bathroom and that's when it hit her: bathrooms represent the ocean. Therefore she must immediately obtain soaps in the shape of a flip flop. But kitchens represent farms, therefore the decor runs to cute chickens and pigs.

Alas, at the end of the sketch Brie starts folding up a gift bag to save for later. That is a sure sign that The Cut is heading her way. It's a hilarious sketch, take a look:
