Second Trailer for Rogue One Shows a Different Side of Jyn Erso
Posted on October 14, 2016
The official second full trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story has dropped and it has a totally different tone from the first trailer. The second trailer seems more tonally similar to the classic Star Wars movies, from the dialogue to the music. The characters and plot are the same. Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) leads a ragtag group of fighters in a mission to steal the plans for the Death Star. The new weapon of destruction is a planet killer and it is crucial for the Rebellion to get the plans.
One complicating factor is that Jyn's father has been forced the the Empire to build the weapon. This trailer opens with Jyn as a little girl with her father Galen Erso (Mads Mikkelsen). He tells her, "Jyn whatever I do, I do to protect you. Say you understand." "I understand," she replies.
In another scene the rebels are planning their attack. One person asks how in the world they have any chance at all of defeating something so big and dangerous as the Empire. Jyn says, "We have hope. Rebellions are built on hope." In this trailer we see Jyn the leader, the one that inspires her team to be heroes.
Directed by Gareth Edwards, the film also stars Alan Tudyk, Warwick Davis, Forest Whitaker, Diego Luna, James Earl Jones, Donnie Yen, Genevieve O'Reilly and Jimmy Smits. The film is set to hit theaters on December 16, 2016. Take a look:
