Report: Sandra Bullock to Make At Least $70 Million From Gravity
Posted on February 27, 2014
The Hollywood Reporter says Sandra Bullock is set to make at least $70 million from Gravity. Sandra is nominated for an Oscar for her role. The Hollywood Reporter says she was paid $20 million upfront against 15% of first-dollar gross. The film has already made over $700 million worldwide and THR estimates this will give Sandra around $50 million in addition to her $20 million upfront.
It is extremely difficult for actors to get these kind of lucrative deals in the Hollywood film industry. Robert Downey Jr. has a similar deal for the Iron Man and Avengers films and is said to have made at least $50 million from The Avengers film, which made over $1.5 billion worldwide. Bullock and Downey Jr. must both have great agents. They are also known for producing hit after hit at the box office, which is a rare feat. Warner Bros. appears to have been wise to have offered Sandra the deal as it was primarily a two-actor film and it went on to do extremely well in theaters. If Warner Bros. had spent less and cast someone else it probably would not have had the box office power it did.
