Ride Along Wins Box Office for Third Consecutive Weekend
Posted on February 2, 2014
Ride Along has surprising staying power at the top of the box office. It is the number one film in the nation for the third consecutive weekend this weekend. Ride Along made $12.3 million to win the weekend. It was the only movie over the $10 million mark during the slow Super Bowl weekend. Ride Along has now made nearly $93 million in the U.S., which is way over the film's $25 million budget.
Frozen continues to draw moviegoers into theaters. It made $9.3 million during it eleventh weekend in theaters. Frozen has now past the $360 million mark and has an outside shot at $400 million if it can continue its amazing performance a little longer.
Frozen was followed by That Awkward Moment, starring Zac Efron and Michael B. Jordan. That Awkward Moment did not perform well. The comedy only made $9 million at a low per theater average of $3,208 per theater. There seemed to be plenty of marketing for the film, but it was unable to find a large audience. The L.A. Times reports that some of the budget was spent marketing the movie to the females aged 17 to 34, which made have been a mistake.
That Awkward Moment was followed by The Nut Job, Lone Survivor, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit and Labor Day. You can find the complete box office report here.
