Kevin Hart and Ice Cube are back in the first trailer for Ride Along 2, the sequel to the surprise hit Ride Along. The buddy comedy film made nearly $154 million world wide.
Kevin Hart returns as Ben, who is now a rookie cop that just graduated from the police academy, Ben is as gung ho as they come when it comes to taking down criminals. What lacks in experience, he makes up for in enthusiasm. He wants to be besties with his soon to be brother in law James (Ice Cube), but James still finds James' antics to be really, really irritating.
Just before the wedding, James must track down a fugitive (Ken Jeong) who has fled to Miami. There they meet a hard nosed detective named Maya Cruz (Olivia Munn) who despises Ben on sight. The trio must work together to stop a drug lord (Benjamin Bratt).
Ice Cube is currently doing press for Straight Outta Compton and has been talking about Ride Along 2, as well. He says this film will have bigger action and will be even better than the first film. He said they really worked hard not to rely on the funniest bits in the first film, but to really make it a film the fans will love.
The supporting cast includes Sherri Shepherd, Nadine Velazquez, Carlos Gomez and Tika Sumpter. The film was directed by Tim Story from a screenplay by Phil Hay. The film is set for release on January 15, 2016. Take a look:
