Riddick Wins Weekend Box Office

Riddick, a science fiction thriller starring Vin Diesel, easily won the box office this weekend. Riddick was the only major new film in theaters. It made $18.7 million. Riddick was followed by Lee Daniels' The Butler, which made $8.9 million during its fourth weekend in theaters. Instructions Not Included finished third and made $8.1 million.
Instructions Not Included was followed by We're the Millers, Planes, One Direction: This is Us and Elysium. The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones has slipped below Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters, even though Percy has been in theaters two weeks longer than City of Bones. City of Bones has remained very week and has only managed to make $27.8 million through three weekends in theaters. You can find the complete box office report here.
