Renee Zellweger and Greg Kinnear star in the first trailer for Same Kind of Different as Me, which is based on the nonfiction book Same Kind of Different As Me: A Modern-Day Slave, an International Art Dealer, and the Unlikely Woman Who Bound Them Together by Ron Hall and Denver Moore. Renee Zellweger and Greg Kinnear play a wealthy couple, the Halls, whose marriage is on the rocks due to the husband's philandering. His wife gave him a choice: to walk out on the marriage or stay and try to make things better.
As part of the plan to save their marriage the wife convinced her husband, a wealthy Texas art dealer, to help out at a homeless shelter. There they met a man that would change their lives. Denver Moore (Djimon Hounsou) was what he calls a modern day slave: he was a sharecropper for many years before going to prison. Angry, depressed and homeless, he was anything but approachable.
Due to his wife's intervention and persistence, the two men became unlikely friends. When Mrs. Hall was diagnosed with cancer, Moore thought their friendship would end. But it did not and they ended up writing a book together.
The film also stars John Voight and hits theaters on February 3, 2017. Take a look:
