Posted on August 6, 2016

In the first trailer for I.T. Pierce Brosnan plays Mike Regan, a wealthy businessman who has made a fortune in aviation. The film's title refers to n "information technology" not a an evil clown dreamed up by Stephen King, although the film does have some horrifying elements. Regan hires Ed Porter (James Frecheville) the company IT guy to help him set up his smart home which is run by a computer. Ed has a thing for Ryan's cute daughter, which quickly devolves into a stalking situation. Ryan tries to get rid of Ed, and that's where it all goes sideways.

Ed is actually a brilliant hacker and now he really hates Regan. So he sets about methodically destroying his life using technology. Regan's home is under constant surveillance by Ed. Ryan's smart cars are easily hacked. Even the company's jets are not safe from someone who can reprogram the controls from the ground.

The film is quite topical given the trend towards smart homes, smart cars and smart appliances. If the wrong person hacks into your smart home, things will get dicey very quickly. Directed by John Moore (Flight of the Phoenix, A Good Day to Die Hard) the film also stars Anna Friel, Stefanie Scott, Michael Nyqvist, Claire-Hope Ashitey and Austin Swift. Yes, that's Taylor Swift's brother Austin in the trailer at around the 1:30 mark. He's making his film debut.

The tech thriller opens on September 9, 2016. Take a look:
