Posted on May 24, 2016
PBS Kids has announced it will launch Splash and Bubbles this fall. The animated series from The Jim Henson Company will help kids learn about marine biology and ocean science. It will premiere on November 23, 2016.
Splash and Bubbles follows the adventures of Splash, a yellow fusilier fish and his friend Bubbles, a Mandarin dragonet with vivid orange and electric blue coloring. The series was created by John Tartaglia (ImaginOcean, Johnny and the Sprites). It was designed to encourage kids aged 4-7 to explore our undersea world. The series also introduces the concepts of ecological balance and the importance of taking care of the ocean. Digital content related to the series will include games, apps and resources for educators and parents.
Lisa Henson, CEO of The Jim Henson Company, says in the announcement, "Through the adventures of Splash and Bubbles, we hope to inspire environmentalism, empathy and curiosity about the vast world of marine biology. We hope the series becomes a starting point for children to build confidence in their ability to make a difference in our environment and inspires a lifetime of learning."
