Pain and Gain won the weekend box office, but not by much. The comedy barely beat last week's number one film, Oblivion. Pain and Gain made $20 million while Oblivion made $17.8 million. 42 continues to perform well and made another $10 million in its third week in theaters.
The big flop of the weekend was The Big Wedding. The star-studded film made just $7.6 million in 2,633 theaters. Robert De Niro, Katherine Heigl, Diane Keaton, Amanda Seafried, Topher Grace, Susan Surandon and Robin Williams were some of the big names in the romantic comedy. The film mad an average of under $3,000 per theater during its opening weekend. The Big Wedding was followed by The Croods, G.I. Joe: Retailiation, Scary Movie 5 and Olympus Has Fallen.
Iron Man 3 expected to open big this coming weekend. The film has already performed huge overseas where it has brought in nearly $200 million.
