Sandra Bullock and Billy Bob Thornton are Rival Political Strategists in Our Brand is Crisis
Posted on September 9, 2015
Sandra Bullock and Billy Bob Thornton star in the first trailer for Our Brand is Crisis. Based on a true story, Bullock plays "Calamity" Jane Bodine a political genius who retired after a professional setback. She is hired to help turn around the campaign of a Bolivian presidential candidate who is quite behind in the polls.
She is up against her longtime arch enemy Pat Candy (Billy Bob Thornton), who is coaching the opposition. The two will stop at nothing to ensure that their candidate wins. The satire shows the behind the scenes machinations that go on in a major political campaign. The trailer is fascinating -- watching Sandra and Billy Bob lock horns as mortal enemies is most entertaining.
The film also stars Anthony Mackie, Joaquim de Almeida, Ann Dowd, Scoot McNairy and Zoe Kazan. The film was directed by Peter Straughan who directed the excellent cold war thriller (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy). The story was inspired by the documentary by Rachel Boynton which explored the used of American political campaign strategies in the 2002 Bolivian presidential election, in which James Carvelle was a political consultant.
George Clooney and Grant Heslove produced the film which will be released on Friday, October 30, 2015. Take a look:
