Oblivion Featurette: the Creation of the Bubble Ship

In this featurette from the Oblivion set director Joseph Kosinski talks about building a full bubble ship for the film. Stars Tom Cruise and Olga Kurylenko filmed their scenes in the full ship, as well as in a separate, rotating cockpit which they used for the flight scenes.

The cockpit rotates and moves like a real ship: the back of the ship and the outside environment are then added in using cgi. The ship was constructed, then disassembled and sent to the set, where the crew had to reassemble it. That looked like quite a task. Take a look:
