Fox Searchlight just released the first teaser trailer for Jackie which stars Natalie Portman as First Lady Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy. The film is set during the terrible week after the assassination of her husband, President John F. Kennedy, and explores how she kept going despite overwhelming grief.
The trailer shows us a series of haunting images, from Mrs. Kennedy presiding over formal occasions at the White House to the day of the assassination in Dallas when she cradled her husband's head in her lap as the car raced for the hospital. The trailer opens with the song "Camelot" sung by Richard Burton who played King Arthur in the Broadway version of the musical which was later turned into a film starring Richard Harris.
The film also stars Peter Sasrsgaard as Robert Kennedy, Billy Crudup as The Journalist, John Hurt as The Priest, John Carroll Lunch as Lyndon Baines Johnson, Max Casella as Jack Valenti, Greta Gerwig as Nancy Tuckerman, the White House social secretary and Mrs. Kennedy's childhood friend and confidant and Beth Grant as Ladybird Johnson.
The film got rave reviews at the Venice Film Festival and there is already Oscar buzz for Natalie Portman, who has one Academy Award already for her work in Black Swan. The film will open in December 2nd. Take a look:
