Monsters University and World War Z Top Weekend Box Office

Monsters University was the number one film in theaters this weekend. It had a huge $82 million opening. Monsters University was followed by World War Z, which also had a strong opening.
Word War Z made $66 million. Brad Pitt's promotional efforts are being credited for the strong box office. Pitt made surprise appearances in several U.S. cities to promote the film and has continued to travel overseas.
Man of Steel slipped to third during its second week and theaters but still added another $41 million to its box office gross. It has already passed the $210 million mark.
Man of Steel was followed by This is the End, Now You See Me, Fast & Furious 6, The Internship and The Purge. You can see the complete box office report here.
