Record Audience for Monk Series Finale
Posted on December 7, 2009
USA Network's excellent Monk series has ended. The Hollywood Reporter reports that the Monk finale drew 9.4 million viewers - a record for a drama series on basic cable. This may climb higher once Live+7 numbers are included.
THR says, "It is a fitting farewell for a series that defined USA's brand of quirky dramedies and kicked off the network's ascension to cable-ratings supremacy."
The writers really did a terrific job with the final episode. It was a wonderful conclusion to the show. However, it is really sad saying goodbye to Monk, Captain Stottlemeyer, Lieutenant Disher, Natalie Teeger and the other characters on the show. Eight seasons was not enough. Hopefully, they will at least make some Monk movies.
