Mockingjay Fends Off Krampus to Win Weekend Box Office

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 won the box office this weekend for the third consecutive weekend. It made $18.6 million which put it far enough ahead of Krampus to maintain its box office winning streak. Mockingjay has now made $227 million after three weekends in theaters.
The Krampus holiday horror film made $16 million in 2,902 theaters for a $5,500 per theater average. It already passed its small budget of $15 million. Krampus has a B- CinemaScore and a 64% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The film stars Adam Scott, Toni Collette and David Koechner.
Krampus was followed by Creed, The Good Dinosaur, Spectre and The Night Before. Another new film openings this weekend was Chi-Raq, which made $1.25 million in 305 theaters for a good $4,099 per theater average.
