Melissa McCarthy Goes Undercover in New Spy Trailer

Posted on January 13, 2015

The first trailer for the Melissa McCarthy comedy thriller Spy was just released and it's hilarious. Melissa plays Susan Cooper, a former teacher who left teaching to go work at the CIA. She becomes a top analyst, but never gets to go in the field.

But her low profile finally lands her the chance she's always wanted: to go into the field. Her boss, played by Allison Janney, gives her a new identity. Sadly, the new identity is a divorced housewife with the ugliest wig ever seen. But Susan embraces her new undercover role and sets out to prove to her bosses that she's got what it takes to find a missing nuclear bomb and save the day.

The trailer opening is just a classic. Jude Law is a top field agent who is interrogating a suspect to find out where a suitcase nuke is hidden. Susan is his handler back at Langley. Let's just say that the interrogation does not go well. Back at the CIA Susan's eventual handler (played by Jason Statham) is incredulous that the "lunch lady" actually wants to go out in the field. Rose Byrne is the femme fatale that does know where the nuke is hidden. Susan has been told to avoid her at all costs, but of course she doesn't listen. The film also stars Morena Baccarin, bobby Cannavele, 50 Cent, Miranda hart, Will Yun Lee, Zach Woods and Carlos Ponce.

The film was written and directed by Paul Feig Bridesmaids, The Heat) and hits theaters on May 22, 2015. We can't wait to see this one.
