Maze Runner: The Death Cure Tops Box Office

Maze Runner: The Death Cure is the number one film in theaters this weekend. It made $23.5 million for a $6,205 per theater average. The film is the third and final entry in the Maze Runner trilogy. It stars Dylan O'Brienm, Ki Hong Lee and Kaya Scodelario. It has a B+ CinemaScore.
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle fell to the #2 spot after three consecutive weeks at #1. Jumanji still refuses to relinquish much of its box office share. It fell just 15.9% from the previous week and added $16.4 million to bring its total gross to $338 million. Jumanji is still averaging over $4,500 per theater during its sixth week in theaters.
The historical drama Hostiles expanded to wide release and made $10.2 million. A reluctant Army captain is tasked with escorting a Cheyenne chief in the film set in the late 19th century. It has a B CinemaScore.
Hostiles was followed by The Greatest Showman, The Post, 12 Strong and Den of Thieves. The Shape of Water, which garnered the most Oscar nominations, soared 160% from the previous weekend and made $5.7 million. Padmaavat, an Indian epic drama set in 1303 AD, had a strong limited opening making over $4 million despite showing in just 324 theaters.
