Man of Steel Sets June Box Office Record

Man of Steel dominated the box office this weekend. The Superman film, starring Henry Cavill, made $113 million, which is the biggest June weekend opening ever. The previous record of $110.3 million was held by Toy Story 3. A Man of Steel sequel is already underway.
Man of Steel was followed by This Is the End. The post-apocalyptic comedy opened in second and made $20.5 million. Now You See Me made ten million in its third weekend in theaters. Fast & Furious 6 added $9.4 million during its fourth weekend in theaters and came in fourth.
The Purge plunged following its big surprise win last weekend. The film fell 75% to finish fifth and make $8.2 million. The Purge was followed by The Internship, Epic, Star Trek Into Darkness and After Earth. You can see the complete box office report here.
