SNL Sketch: Les Jeunes de Paris Starring Anna Kendrick and Taran Killam
Posted on April 7, 2014
We just love the Les Jeunes de Paris sketches on SNL. Taran Killam originally came up with the idea from wife Cobie Smulders who would listen to obscure French pop songs at Starbucks. He said it's an American's idea of what French young people are like, and of course it's ridiculous.
There is a cafe, a young woman (in this case, Anna Kendrick) and Taran and his gang, who burst into dance whenever a certain song is played. In this version, there is a very funny play on Anna's hit song "Cups," an appearance by Captain Jean-Luc Picard and -- our favorite part -- the entrance of talk show host and intergalactic personality Ruby Rhod from the Luc Besson film The Fifth Element.
Jay Pharoah doing Chris Tucker doing Ruby Rhod is a sight and sound to behold.
NBC does not appear to have uploaded this clip. They need get on it!
