LEGO Batman Movie Wins Weekend Box Office

The LEGO Batman Movie won the box office this weekend. LEGO Batman made over $55 million in over 4,000 theaters for a $13,609 average. Batman is voiced by Will Arnett in the film with Michael Cera voicing his sidekick Robin. The animated film has an A- CinemaScore.
LEGO Batman was followed by Fifty Shades Darker the sequel to Fifty Shades of Grey. The sequel opened with $46.7 million which is about half of the box office debut of the original. However, this was still a very healthy opening and the film is even stronger overseas where it made another $100 million. The film stars Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan.
There were three new films that had strong box office earnings this weekend. Opening in third place this weekend was John Wick: Chapter Two. Keanu Reeves returns in the action thriller sequel. The film made $30 million. It also stars Ruby Rose, Common, Riccardo Scamarcio and Ian McShane.
John Wick was followed by Split, Hidden Figures, A Dog's Purpose, Rings, La La Land and Lion. Split has the box office lead for the year so far this year with Rogue One being listed under 2016.
