Kristen Stewart and Michelle Williams Star in First Trailer for Certain Women
Posted on September 5, 2016
The first trailer for director Kelly Reichardt's new film Certain Women is out. The film stars Kristen Stewart, Michelle Williams, Laura Dern and Lily Gladstone as four very different women who are determined to find a path forward in their disappointing lives. The film is based on the short stories "Tome," "Native Sandstone" and "Travis B." by Montana author Maile Meloy.
Laura Dern plays a small town lawyer whose client decides to take a violent approach when his worker's compensation case does not go well. The client (Jared Harris) doesn't listen to her excellent advice and she's convinced if she were a man he would listen. Kristen Stewart is a young lawyer who ends up teaching an adult education case several towns over. She has no idea what she's doing, and forms a bond with a young ranch hand played by newcomer Lily Gladstone.
Michelle Williams is a wife who is determined to build her dream home with all native materials. She takes her husband (James Le Gros) with her to try to talk an elderly neighbor (René Auberjono)into giving her the native sandstone from his yard. You can feel her fury when her husband bungles the conversation.
The film is a vivid character portrait of these women who are all independent in their own way. Take a look:
