Jurassic World Makes Over $100 Million During Second Weekend in Theaters

Jurassic World fended off a huge debut by Disney-Pixar's Inside Out to win the box office for a consecutive weekend. Jurassic World made $102 million to stay over $10 million ahead of Inside Out which had a huge opening of $91 million. Jurassic World has now made nearly $400 million after just two weekend in theaters. It will easily pass Avengers: Age of Ultron to take the domestic box office lead for the year.
The $91 million opening for Inside Out is the second biggest ever for Pixar. Toy Story 3 had a $110 million opening in 2010. Inside Out had a per theater average of $23,076. It has an A CinemaScore like Jurassic World.
InsideOut was followed by Spy, which made $10.5 million during its third weekend in theaters, and San Andreas, which added $8.2 million during its fourth weekend in theaters. The other new wide release this weekend was Dope. The coming-of-age comedy drama opened with $6 million in 2,002 theaters. It has an A- CinemaScore.
Dope was followed by Insidious Chapter 3, Pitch Perfect 2, Mad Max: Fury Road and Avenger: Age of Ultron. You can view the box office chart for the weekend here.
Jurassic World will have to fend off Ted 2, Max and Big Game in order to win the box office for the third consecutive weekend.
