Jungle Cruise Tops Weekend Box Office

Disney's Jungle Cruise topped the box office during its opening weekend. The film inspired by Disney's theme park ride made $34.2 million. It also made $30 million on the Disney Plus streaming service where it was available for $29.99.
Jungle Cruise stars Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt. It has an A- Cinemascore. It cost $200 million to produce according to Variety. It faces a battle to break even but it is hard to see a filming doing much better with the Covid-19 pandemic horrors resurfacing.
Jungle Cruise was followed by The Green Knight from A24 films which opened with a $6.8 million take. The film is a retelling of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight and stars Dev Patel as Sir Gawain. It has a C+ Cinemascore.
The Green Knight was followed by Old and Black Widow. Black Widow has now made $167 million.
The other opening film this weekend was Stillwater, which opened in 5th with a $5.1 million box office gross. The film (inspired by the Amanda Knox story) has a father (Matt Damon) traveling from the oil rigs of Oklahoma to France to help his daughter, who is facing murder charges.
