Jumanji Tops Box Office for Third Straight Weekend

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle continues its domination of the January 2018 box office with its third consecutive #1. Jumanji added $20 million to bring its total gross to $316 million. This is the fifth week in theaters for the film starring Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan.
Jumani was followed by 12 Strong and Den of Thieves. 12 Strong, which opened with $16.5 million, follows a team of Special Forces soldiers in Afghanistan after 9/11. It has an A CinemaScore. Den of Thieves is an action heist thriller about elite police tasked with thwarting a robbery of the Federal Reserve in Los Angeles. It has a B+ CinemaScore and opened with $15.3 million.
Den of Thieves was followed by The Post, The Greatest Showman, Paddington 2 and The Commuter. The Last Jedi made $6.5 million during its sixth weekend, enough to push it over the $600 million mark.
The other new release, Forever My Girl, made $4.7 million in 1,115 for a decent $4,218 per theater average. The romantic drama follows a country music star and is based on a novel by Heidi McLaughlin.
