Jena Malone Stars in New WIGS Series

Actress Jena Malone (Sucker Punch, Into the Wild) stars in Dakota, a new scripted series on the online WIGS network. Dakota is written and directed by Ami Canaan Mann.

Dakota is a tough single mother who pays the bills by playing poker, and right now, she's down. She sees a chance to reverse her fortunes when she's invited to a high-stakes home game, but she'll need a little luck and the help of someone unexpected to get back in the black.

Jena says, "What I think is so interesting about Ami's script is that Dakota's a woman that you usually don't see on screen. Dakota is smart, she's got charm, she's a gambler, but it's a healthy addiction. She's doing something to better herself and it's not disgusting. So I love that there's so many layers to work with - I just read the script and loved it."

WIGS says it will soon be releasing more content all starring female leads. Upcoming programming showcases actors including: Dakota Fanning, Jennifer Beals, Maura Tierney, Michael C. Hall, America Ferrera, Jason Isaacs, Allison Janney, Jane Kaczmarek, Rosanna Arquette, Walton Goggins, Jimmy Wolk, Gary Cole, Tim DeKay, Jason O'Mara, and Catherine O'Hara.
