It Tops Box Office for Second Straight Weekend

It won the box office for the second straight weekend. It added another $60 million during its second weekend in theaters. The horror film based on the Stephen King novel has now quickly amassed $218 million after just two weekends in theaters.
It was followed by American Assassin which opened in second with a $14.8 million weekend box office. It averaged $4,692 per theater. The thriller stars Dylan O'Brien as counterterrorism agent Mitch Rapp. It is based on the novel by Vince Flynn. The film has a B+ CinemaScore.
It was followed by mother! starring Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem. The film is written and directed by Darren Aronofsky. The controversial film garnered a rare F CinemaScore from moviegoers. It fares better on Rotten Tomatoes where critics gave it a 69% fresh rating and audiences gave it a 41%.
Mother! was followed by Home Again, The Hitman's Bodyguard, Annabelle: Creation, Wind River, Leap!, Spider-Man: Homecoming and Dunkirk. You can view the box office chart for the weekend here.
