Posted on September 15, 2013
Insidious: Chapter 2 won the box office this weekend. The horror sequel was a good draw for the weekend that began on Friday the 13th. The reviews for the sequel were not as good as the original, but the film still managed to make a very large $41 million over the weekend despite its small budget. The theater average was a large $13,463 per theater. Insidious 2 was followed by The Family, a Luc Besson dark comedy about a mob family starring Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer and Dianna Agron. It had a good opening with a $14.5 million take.
The Family was followed by Riddick, The Butler, We're the Millers, Instructions Not Included and Planes. The Butler has not climbed over the $100 mark in total gross. You can see the complete box office total here.
