The first teaser trailer for the film version of Dan Brown's bestselling novel Inferno opens with a question put to Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks). He is asked, "There's a switch; if you throw it, half the people on Earth will die. But if you don't, in 100 years the human race will be extinct." Renowned symbologist Langdon is up against a deadly foe in Inferno. The voice tells him, "I left you a path - the hardest one yet. Only you can finish it. You are humanity's final hope."
The book opens with Langdon waking up in an Italian hospital with retrograde amnesia. He and Dr. Sienna Brooks (Felicity Jones) end up on the run, trying to piece together Langdon's last few weeks and stop a madman that wants to end the world as we know it.
The action takes Langdon through gorgeous locations in Florence, Italy, to Europe and to some magnificent museums and buildings as the duo attempt to piece together the clues found in Boticelli's painting of Dante's Inferno. The film was directed by Oscar winner Ron Howard, who also directed Hanks in the film adaptations of The Da Vinci Code and 2009's Angels and Demons.
Ben Foster, Irrfan Khan, Ana Ularu, Omary Sy, and Sidse Babett Knudsen also star in the film which will hit theaters on October 28, 2016. Take a look:
