Posted on February 24, 2013

Identity Thief reclaimed its position as the number one film in theaters this weekend. The comedy made $14 million during its third weekend in theaters, which was enough to keep ahead weak openings from Snitch and Dark Skies. Snitch, which stars Dwayne Johnson as a father who goes undercover for the DEA to help his son, finished second and made $13 million.

Snitch was followed by Escape From Planet Earth, Safe Haven and A Good Day to Die Hard. Dark Skies, starring Keri Russell, opened in sixth and made $8.85 million. It was followed by Silver Linings Playbook, which continues to draw moviegoers into theaters during its 15th week. The film has now crossed the $100 million mark.
