The Hunger Games Makes Nearly $20 Million During Midnight Opening

The Hunger Games had a record $19.75 million opening Thursday night. This is a record for the all-time highest grossing non-sequel midnight. It is the 7th highest midnight gross ever. You can see a list of the top ten midnight openings here.
A huge weekend box office near $140 million is being predicted. This would put it very close to opening of The Twilight Saga: New Moon, which had a $142.8 million opening.
