Hop Easily Wins Weekend Box Office
Posted on April 3, 2011
Hop - an animated Easter-themed movie about a slacker who accidentally injures the Easter Bunny's teenage son - easily won the box office this weekend. The film, starring James Marsden, Russell Brand and Kaley Cuoco, racked up $38 million.
Source Code, which garnered terrific reviews, did not do as well in theaters as expected. The thriller, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, made $15 million in its opening week. It was followed by Insidious, a horror film from the filmmakers of Paranormal, which made about $13.5 million.
Last week's box office winner, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules, slipped to fourth and made just over $10 million during its second weekend in theaters. Limitless, a thought-provoking science fiction thriller starring Bradley Cooper, remained strong during its third week in theaters. Limitless added another $9.4 million over the weekend to bring its total box office take to $55 million. You can see the full box office report for the weekend here.
