Home and Get Hard Top Weekend Box Office

Home won the box office this weekend with a $54 million opening. The animated film about an alien who lands on Earth stars the voices of Jim Parsons, Rihanna, Steve Martin and Jennifer Lopez. Home was followed by Get Hard, a comedy starring Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart. Get Hard a strong opening and made $34.6 million in 3,175 theaters for a $10,900 per theater average. Home has an A CinemaScore whil Get Hard has a B.
Get Hard was followed by The Divergent Series: Insurgent which added $22 million during its second weekend in theaters. It has now made $86 million. Cinderella made $17.5 million to bring its total gross to $150 million after three weekends in theaters. CInderella was followed by It Follows, a horror film that went into wide release this weekend. It Follows made $4 million.
Kingsman: The Secret Service followed It Follows to finish sixth. It was followed by Run All Night, The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Do You Believe? and The Gunman. American Sniper is still in 970 theaters and added another $900,000 to bring its total gross to $345 million.
Home will rule the box office for only one week as Furious 7 arrives in theaters next weekend. It is expected to put up big box office numbers.
